October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and as our nation has pulled together like never before, The Celebrating Life Foundation is bring together three of Dallas Fort Worth’s largest choirs to give a spiritually reviving breast cancer awareness concert featuring gospel singing legend,

Tramaine Hawkins on Saturday, October 6 at the Potter’s House in Dallas, Texas at 7:00 PM

“The Potter’s House Mass Choir, led by Steve Lawrence, the Inspirational Body of Christ Mass Choir led by Pastor Rickie Rush, and St. John Missionary Baptist Choir from Grand Prayer led by Clark Joseph will come together for a cause in a way that many have never seen before in this city,” states Sylvia

Dunnavant, founder and executive director of the Celebrating Life Foundation, which is geared toward education and outreach for African American women in reference to breast cancer awareness. “I guess the Senior Pastor of St. John Missionary Baptists Church, Pastor Denny Davis, put it best when it said ‘the cause is what is so important’, ”adds Dunnavant.

Indeed the cause is important as African American Women continue to die at a disproportionate from this dreaded disease. According to the American Cancer society 2001 statistics, an estimated 19,300 African American women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and approximately 5, 800 African American women will die from the disease this year.

“The most powerful part of this event is that we have three choirs of diverse backgrounds but who have all achieved monumental successes in their own rights, acknowledging the power of unity and the power of God. I don’t think you cannot make a more powerful statement than that,” states Dunnavant.

This event is being sponsored by State Farm Insurance Companies, Bank One, 7-Eeleven, Pharmacia and KHVN

This event will be free to the public with a contribution to breast cancer.
