On Saturday, September 14, 2002 the Celebrating Life Foundation will host its 3rd Annual Sister to Sister (5k) Fitness Festival at Kiest Park in Dallas, Texas.
”We are very excited about the success of the Sister to Sister Fitness Festival (5K), ” states Sylvia Dunnavant the Founder and Executive Director the Celebrating Life Foundation. “We think it is very important to promote overall healthy lifestyles in our community, therefore this event is the perfect well- rounded way to promote general health, ” added Dunnavant.
“However, because the primary focus of this event is to promote breast cancer awareness in the African American Community we will have special gift packs as well as free mammograms which will be provided by St. Paul Mammography Unit and Methodist Hospital for women without insurance,” states Dunnavant.
The Festival will began with a race/walk at 8:30 am and will include various health screenings. There will be 18 vendor booths providing health-related information including nutrition, body fat analysis, blood pressure screenings, and body building consultations.
Even the kids will have an opportunity to take parking in the festival, because there will be special children’s area. This area will include clowns and face painting.
The corporate supporters for the Sister to Sister (5k) Fitness Festival include State Farm Insurance Companies, Aetna Health Care, American Airlines, Wells Fargo, Bank One, USFI, Starbucks, the Dallas Examiner, KHVN and the Dallas Weekly are some of the corporate supporters of this event.
There is a registration fee of $15.00 for walkers and runners, however the festival activities are free to the public. Registration forms may be picked at participating Starbucks location or printed from the Sister to Sister Fitness Festival website, www.celebratinglife.kintera.org.
