Renown motivational speaker, author and television personality, Les Brown, will give the keynote address at the Annual Celebrating Life Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon & Fashion Show to be held, October 6th, at 11:30 am at the Westin Park Central Hotel, Dallas, Texas.

The Celebrating Life Foundation promotes breast cancer awareness among African American women. Brown, who is a prostate cancer survivor, will headline the main event for the Celebrating Life Foundation’s Annual Weekend, beginning Friday October  5, with a forum for breast cancer survivors and their families being  sponsored by Pharmacia. The weekend will culminate on Saturday evening with  a gospel concert featuring gospel legend, Tramaine Hawkins.

The luncheon will also include a fashion show featuring Dallas designers, Rita Morgan and Anthony Mark Hankins. “As a prostate cancer survivor, Les Brown, definitely understand the struggle of trying to educate our community about early detection and overall cancer awareness. Because his mother died from breast cancer, he surely understands the cause, and the fact this disease is taking the lives of our women at a disproportionate rate. And as a motivation speaker he has overcome obstacles, risen to the top and is second to none,” said Sylvia Dunnavant, Celebrating Life founder.

“We have actively been pursuing him to speak for this event for the last five years, and his schedule finally permitted him to appear. There is no doubt Dallas is in for a treat!” Dunnavant added. Even though Brown has had no formal education beyond high school, his persistence and determination, and unending self-education, has distinguished him as an expert in harnessing human potential. Brown’s success has been achieved by his dedication to helping others realize their greatness. His rich life experiences en route to becoming a preeminent speaker and author includes: broadcasting, community activism, public commentating and three-term legislator.

“As we celebrate the sixth year of the organization we are proud Mr. Brown will take our theme: “*Passing the Torch: Sharing Rays of Hope*” to another level. We expect him to not only impart from a wellspring of wisdom, but also from the courage and experience only known to a cancer survivor.” Dunnavant said.

Tickets for the luncheon are $50 and may be purchased through the Celebrating Life Foundation. Pharmacia, State Farm Insurance Companies, American Airlines, Bank One, USFI and 7-Eleven are sponsoring this event. For more information contact the Celebrating Life Foundation at 972-501-9981 ext. 110.
