Sylvia Dunnavant Hines is a writer, photographer, poet who resides in Dallas, Texas. She has a communications degree with an emphasis in journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Ms. Dunnavant was ordained by Bishop T. D. Jakes, Senior Pastor, of the Potter’s House in Dallas, Texas. Ms. Dunnavant, who has studied under the world-renowned speaker, Les Brown, is in demand as a public speaker.
Under her leadership, the Celebrating Life Foundation has developed and distributed over a million breast self-exam cards to churches and civic organizations across the country.
Dunnavant’s work, Celebrating Life: African American Women Speak Out About Breast Cancer, has been recognized with national and state awards.
Two North Texas women drawn together by personal and family experience with breast cancer have collaborated to spread a little joy to others taking chemotherapy. They want to help people during their treatments that can cause them to be very sick while fighting the disease.
It was a packed house with almost a thousand who turned out and turned it up at the 21st Annual Sister to Sister Fitness Festival at the Alan E. Sims Cedar Hill Recreation Center.
Celebration Life Foundation kicked off its 21st Annual Sister to Sister Fitness Festival earlier this month, this year’s theme was titled “We’re on This Journey Together.” Dallas Cowboys,”Hall of Famer,” Emmitt Smith’s Sister, Marsha Smith Hill, was the event’s “kick-off coach.” Hill, a breast cancer survivor brought an inspirational and emotional message of faith. “Early detection is the key! keep your atmosphere saturated with people who are positive, encouraging, and uplifting.
