Cedar Hill, TX — Various shades of blue and pink filled the halls of the Alan E. Sims Cedar Hill Recreation Center as more than a thousand participants gathered to celebrate the 24th Sister to Sister Fitness Festival, hosted by the Celebrating Life Foundation.
This year’s theme, “Riding the Blue Waves,” spotlighted male breast cancer awareness and encouraged men to take an active role in early detection and breast health advocacy.
“This weekend’s festival was more than an event—it was a celebration of strength, hope, and community,” said Clifford Armstead, a nine-year breast cancer survivor and the event’s kickoff coach. “As a survivor, I was honored to encourage everyone to take charge of their health and get screened.”
The event also featured heartfelt testimonies from survivors and supporters alike, including Dionne Simms, who travels each year from New Orleans to participate. “During my cancer journey, I experienced love from family like never before and kindness from strangers who cared for me—especially the Celebrating Life Foundation, who connected me with my mentor, survivor Jacqueline Stewart,” Simms shared. “I’m deeply appreciative of all they’ve done. Attending this walk each year is my way of giving back and continuing the mission of hope.”
The event brought out community leaders and media personalities, including radio host Lynne Haze, television journalist Scoop Jefferson, sports broadcaster Chris Arnold, and State Representative Carl O. Sherman.
The Sister-to-Sister Fitness Festival continues to unite families, survivors, and advocates across North Texas in the fight against breast cancer—reminding everyone that early detection saves lives and community support makes healing possible.
