“Unstoppable Together”

We’re thrilled to announce this milestone celebration of the 25th year of the Sister to Sister Fitness Festival. This event is hosted by the Celebrating Life Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to making breast cancer powerless through education, encouragement, and empowerment.

This year's event will continue to have both an onsite and a virtual event to allow participants to run or walk anywhere.  You will need to register on a different page for the virtual walk.

The mission of Celebrating Life Foundation is to make breast cancer powerless by educating, encouraging, and empowering those most impacted by the disease.

Our Theme: “Unstoppable Together
This year, we’re celebrating the power of unity—survivors, caregivers, families, and friends—standing strong together in the fight against breast cancer. Our collective strength reminds us that no one faces this journey alone.

Walking and movement not only promote physical health but also reduce risk factors associated with certain cancers, helping us all live longer, healthier lives—together.

This Year’s
Special Guest: Jayne Kennedy

Celebrating Life - SPECIAL GUEST (26000

Jayne Kennedy

For millions of American women who came of age in the 1960s and 1970s, Jayne Kennedy was far more than an “it girl.” She became a powerful role model—particularly for African-American women—representing grace, talent, and the breaking of long-standing barriers in media and sports.

Jayne’s career in entertainment began in 1971 as a dancer on Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In and during Bob Hope’s Bases Around the World Christmas Tour, where she performed for U.S. troops stationed in Vietnam. Her early success led to numerous television appearances, including hosting major specials, guest-starring on prime-time programs, and serving as a national spokesperson for leading brands such as Coca-Cola.

Her talents extended beyond on-camera roles. Jayne created, wrote, and hosted her own fitness series, Love Your Body, one of the earliest programs of its kind, alongside pioneers like Jane Fonda and Richard Simmons. She also produced and starred in award-winning films, including Body & Soul, earning the NAACP Image Award for Best Actress.

Jayne is perhaps best known for her groundbreaking role on the Emmy Award-winning CBS program The NFL Today. As one of the first female sports anchors—and the first African-American woman to serve in that role—she helped redefine the possibilities for women in sports broadcasting. The legendary broadcast team of Brent Musburger, Jayne Kennedy, Irv Cross, and Jimmy “The Greek” Snyder is often regarded as one of the greatest pregame shows in television history.

Throughout her career, Jayne has received numerous honors recognizing her pioneering impact in sports, journalism, and entertainment. Among them are the National Sports Media Association’s Roone Arledge Award for Innovation and the Black Enterprise Women of Power Legacy Award. Viacom/BET also recognized her as one of the Ten Black Female Firsts in Television Journalism Worldwide.

In 2018, Jayne was inducted into the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C., where she is featured in the Television and the Media Landscape exhibit within the Oprah Winfrey Wing. Continuing her legacy of excellence, she received the Sam Lacy Pioneer Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Association of Black Journalists in August 2025.

Breaking new ground has been a defining theme of Jayne’s life. Her remarkable career—spanning sports, entertainment, journalism, and now literature—continues with the release of her long-awaited memoir, Plain Jayne, published by Andscape/Disney Books on September 2, 2025. The official public launch of the memoir was held at the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture on September 6, 2025.
